The role of health research charities in PPI

We’re delighted to release the report of our survey of our members conducted in late 2023 on their role and experiences in PPI. We got a great response rate of 58% and are grateful to our members for that. The results show how respondents are meaningfully and actively engaged in PPI with an increase in activity over the last 5 years. Although charities face challenges to doing PPI, optimistically respondents benefited from good relationships with PPI contributors and researchers, as well as the support offered by HRCI. It’s also heartening that all but 2 of respondents plan to maintain or increase their PPI activities in the future.

Overall it’s clear that health research charities provide a rich environment in which PPI can be nurtured and grow.
